Manager Composite Database

Frequently, a Hedge Fund manager is managing several strategies in parallel, often with diverging results. Moreover, closing funds that are not performing well is a carnal sin of most of the managers and contributes to making performance measurement difficult. As an industry first, this dataset measures the performance of a management company, aggregating the performance of all strategies a manager is responsible for.

This dataset is constructed by taking the average performance and the sum of unique AUM observations for each management entity. Thus, this does not measure the actual investor performance, but rather the perception an investor may have of a management company. We do not adjust for when the fund started reporting, or AUM. This is something that we may add later.

We are currently building analytics on the aggregate performance of hedge funds, to identify trends and managers that are doing better than other managers.
